Steve Delahousey is a native of
the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He has spent his entire professional
career in the health care industry, specifically emergency medical
service (EMS). He is a Registered Nurse and Registered Emergency
Medical Technician - Paramedic. He was appointed by four Governor’s
to serve on the Mississippi EMS Advisory Council and chaired the
state’s Medical Control Committee. He also served as chairman of
the Harrison County 911 Commission.
His experience in disaster management is
extensive. He was the medical disaster officer in south Mississippi
for Hurricane Katrina (the worst disaster in U.S. history). He was
also appointed by Congress to chair the Hurricane Katrina
Independent Panel - Emergency Communications Committee. His
employer, American Medical Response (AMR) has named him as the EMS
Forward Area Commander for its national disaster response team.
