Administrative - W-OFDM Network Deployment in China - Broadband wireless access has started after the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) and the States Radio Regulatory Commission (SRRC) announced in June 2001 to issue licenses in 5 cities to build the 3.5GHz BWA networks.  This presentation summarized the experience gained by the deployment of a citywide BWA networks in the city of Nanjing, China. The projects are based on Wi-LAN’s W-OFDM technology and are the first OFDM deployment in China.  The status of BWA market in China is also presented.

Specialized - WOFDM, The Mobile Advantage - The vision of Mobile Broadband Wireless data Communications(> 10 Mbps to a handheld or vehicle) is enabled by the use of W-OFDM. In this presentation, the basics of W-OFDM are explained with emphasis on the key characteristics that make networks based on this technology extremely suitable for mobile communications. Field results will be presented and discussed. Key challenges facing the widespread adoption of such a technology will also be described and solutions proposed.
